C. Cretors & Company is a fifth-generation family-owned manufacturer of food concession equipment found in amusement parks, movie theatres and tourist attractions around the world. The Chicago-based company established in 1885, is credited with introducing the world’s first commercial popcorn machine. Invented by former confectioner Charles Cretors, these revolutionary machines used a small steam engine that could that could roast peanuts as well as pop corn in oil. Beginning with countertop models, Cretors eventually expanded the product line to include larger horse drawn wagons and Model A truck versions that featured extremely bright colors, gold leaf trim and nickel plated hardware.

This particular wagon on offer is known as a Cretors ‘Model D’ and is believed to have operated at the famous Storybook Gardens amusement park in London, Ontario. Having had a recent restoration, this unit was originally built (in the late 1960s) to factory specifications using original factory blueprints, molds and designs by restoration specialist – Robert Pearson. His Kansas City-based company has specialized in building and restoring rare Cretors wagons for over 40 years. Guaranteed to attract a crowd, this rare and attractive horse drawn wagon features a modern popping machine to meet safety requirements, although the original popcorn kettles will be included in the sale.
