The classic two-seat Thunderbird entered its final production year in 1957, and today, many enthusiasts consider these models to be the best of the series. Styling was freshened with an updated grille; along with a new rear-end treatment that featured a pair of small and jaunty fins, which were termed “high-canted fenders” by Ford. Both storage space and handling were considerably improved with a lengthened rear section, which allowed the spare tire to be relocated to the trunk. In addition, the 1957 Thunderbird cast a lower profile, with a return to the use of 14-inch diameter wheels. No less than ten standard exterior colors were available, with many others available by special order.

This outstanding example features a very attractive finish and bodywork, perfectly complemented by excellent brightwork, a white hard top, wide whitewall tires, and bright full wheel covers. The interior features a bench seat, ivory white upholstery, a blue padded dash and upper door panels, as well as a handsome engine-turned dash insert. Mechanically, the Thunderbird features a “Y-Block” V8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor and dual exhausts, as well as a Ford-O-Matic transmission, and the engine bay is period correct and well detailed in its overall presentation. Without doubt, this 1957 Thunderbird is a great example of the most desirable year of “Little Bird” production.
