1972 marked the last year for the chrome front bumper Corvettes and was also the last year for the RPO LT1 option. The LT1 option provided the buyer with a high revving solid lifter 350 V8 The example offered here from the Robert Gladwish Collection is one of only 405 units with the LT1 engine in a convertible and this car still retains its original matching numbers engine and original 4-speed transmission.

1972 marked the last year for the chrome front bumper Corvettes and was also the last year for the RPO LT1 option. The LT1 option provided the buyer with a high revving solid lifter 350 cubic inch V8 which was a high performance motor with a great degree of reliability. As a bulletproof power producer, the LT-1 featured a long list of power magnifying and durability enhancing features. Four bolt main bearing caps held a secure grip on the forged crankshaft. Forged aluminum pistons were pinned to forged steel rods. A generously timed camshaft, solid lifters, large valves and a 2 1/2-inch exhaust system enabled the engine to breathe freely right up to its 6500 rpm redline. An 850-cfm Holley perched atop an aluminum intake did the fuel delivery chores while a high-volume oil pump downstairs took care of lubrication. The fire in each cylinder was lit by a dependable Delco transistor ignition system. The example offered here from the Robert Gladwish Collection is one of only 405 units built with the LT1 engine in a convertible body configuration and this car still retains its original matching numbers engine and original 4-speed transmission, as well as a host of other original components. In addition, the car rolled off the assembly line in a beautiful shade of Mille Miglia Red with black interior . . . just as it sits today. The car is also equipped with a chrome luggage rack, Rally wheels and optional factory hardtop.
