An extremely rare and unique 1971 Lincoln Mk III with a pickup style body and a VIN # ending in 00001. It is not known if Ford commissioned the Ranchero conversion or the first owner. The unique vin # may be an indication that it was converted by Ford and would therefore be the first of it’s kind.

An extremely rare and unique 1971 Lincoln Mk III with a pickup style body and a VIN # ending in 00001. This vehicle shows 2 previous owners. The first owner on record was John Legue. Mr Legue was the founder & president of the Antique and Classic Car Club of Canada. It is not known if Ford commissioned the Ranchero conversion or if Mr. Legue did the conversion. The unique vin # may be an indication that it was converted by Ford and would therefore be the first of its kind. Ford apparently commissioned a few of these to be built by outside coachworks. Mr. Legue owned the vehicle for well over 30 years and passed away in 2009. The second known owner bought the car from his estate. The Lincoln was properly stored for about 20 years. The second owner freshened the motor, new brake system etc. to make it road worthy. It reportedly had 1 repaint back in the late seventies and still looks good today. The interior is in very good shape with bucket seats & console from a period correct Thunderbird. These Lincolns came with a 460 cu.in. but the vin # indicates a 429 cobra. All above information is not verified as true and would require further investigation. All said and done you will enjoy this very, very unique car for your collection.
