Older restoration on a very desirable corvette. Fresh service & mechanical, runs and drives as it should. New top and engine

While the Corvette launched to great fanfare in 1953, production problems and slow sales nearly killed it. Fortunately, in 1954, GM’s legendary competitive streak was aroused by the appearance of the new Ford Thunderbird, and rather than retreat, GM brass allowed the Corvette to mature. Meanwhile, a series of running changes refined the Corvette, mainly focused on comfort and drivability. In particular, weather protection improved with revised side-screens, door leading edges, and an optional hard top. Mechanical changes included a revised camshaft profile, which raised the power output of the “Blue Flame” six-cylinder engine by five horsepower, and the shape of the rocker cover changed slightly, with approximately twenty percent finished in chrome.

This 1954 Corvette Roadster continues to benefit from its older restoration, finished in Polo White, and complemented by very good brightwork and a new top, as well as wide whitewall tires, red painted steel wheels, and full wheel covers. The handsome interior features red upholstery and carpeting, and is equipped with an AM radio. The current owner reports that this Corvette runs and drives very well, and that it has recently been treated to a complete mechanical inspection and service, as well as an engine bay detail. This 1954 Corvette will certainly provide an abundance of driving and showing pleasure for its next owner, and it remains a fine early example of America’s Sports Car.
