Mercedes-Benz is renowned for the careful, evolutionary development of its automobiles, and the R129 SL model line, produced between 1990 and 2002 is no exception. At various times, the SL line included the six-cylinder 300SL and 320SL, the V8-powered 500SL, and the V12-equipped 600SL. All models remain highly respected by driving enthusiasts today, thanks to their exceptional build quality, excellent performance, and abundance of the latest convenience and safety features. With both hard and soft tops, the R129 SL models provided all weather, high-speed touring capabilities, which recalled the original 300SL of the 1950s.
Finished in black and with a mere 34,000 kilometers, this incredible 2001 500SL is presented in virtually new condition, with no exposue to winter or rainy driving conditions during its lifetime. The interior features an abundance of leather upholstery, a five-speed automatic transmission, and handsome wood grain accents. This example is also equipped with the AMG Sport Package originally valued at $8,700, including wider high-performance tires, 18-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, and aerodynamically tuned lower body panels. It is offered with both hard and soft tops, complete with full history from new, and remains an exceptional automobile for the confirmed driving enthusiast.
