Originally built to be quick and rugged vehicles for military use, Mercedes G-class were soon released in a civilian version to meet public demand. In similar fashion, the first versions of these spectacular utility trucks were not exported to the North American marketplace. Public demand on this continent drove privately imported examples into 6 figure prices before Mercedes began to offer them throught the dealer network.
