Body-off restored by a NCRS member over a three year period. It is finished in Cascade green with an Al Knoch Shoreline beige interior. 283cu. in., dual carburetors, 245 horsepower, three-speed manual transmission. Only 3,300 miles since restoration.

In 1953, Chevrolet took a chance and introduced an all-American, two-seater sports car to compete with British and European makers that had a rich tradition in this small, but very prestigious market segment. The resulting fibreglass roadster, powered by a truck-based six-cylinder engine, quickly evolved into a potent sports car capable of incredible performance.

While the characteristic Corvette front grille of the 1956 model remained virtually intact from the original, the rest of the styling was all new. Clare MacKichan was the styling studio chief in charge of the redesign. There were chrome-rimmed headlamps on the new front fenders, glass windows, external door handles, chrome-outlined body side coves, and stylish new sloping rear fenders with integrated rear taillights. Now under the hood was a powerful 283 cubic inch V8 engine. Standard equipment included dual exhaust, all-vinyl bucket seats, a three-spoke competition-style steering wheel, carpeting, an electric clock, and a tachometer.

An NCRS member restored this beautiful example over three years. With the body removed from the frame, the body was carefully prepared and finished in Cascade Green with clear coat, complemented by a Shoreline beige Al Knoch interior. In addition, the car features a new convertible top, as well as new B.F. Goodrich Silvertown whitewall tires, body-colour steel wheels, and full wheel covers. Power is provided by a 283 cubic inch V8 engine, producing 245 horsepower with dual four-barrel carburetors mated to a three-speed manual transmission. Expertly restored, beautifully presented, and showing just 3,300 careful miles since its restoration, this 1957 Corvette will provide a tangible and enjoyable link to Corvette’s rise to greatness.
