Chevrolet inadvertently hinted at the potency of its new 427 cubic inch high-performance big block V8 engine when it was initially announced as having 450 horsepower, then revised downward to 425 advertised horsepower shortly thereafter. The 1966 427/425 Corvette engine was, in truth, developed from a series of special engines Zora Arkus-Duntov and his engineers had been testing. Stopping power was finally addressed the year before with the long-awaited four-wheel disc brake system, providing the Corvette with braking power to match its awesome acceleration.
This red 1966 Corvette Coupe features a matching numbers 427 cubic inch V8 engine with 425 rated horsepower, coupled to a four-speed manual transmission. The Corvette is also equipped with a thundering side-mounted exhaust system, as well as a set of attractive and correct wheel covers, and period style whitewall tires. The cockpit is trimmed with red leather upholstery and matching carpeting, as well as a desirable teakwood steering wheel, an AM/FM radio with power antenna, a heater, and a clock. The engine, underhood area, and chassis are all in period correct condition, remain clean and presentable.
With its emphasis on high performance, and lacking power-robbing accessories, this 1966 Corvette Coupe would make even Zora Arkus-Duntov proud. It will transform every drive into an experience, and draw admiration wherever it goes.
