Redfish Boat Company of Texas, Capri model. Engine is a 1961 Gale (25 hp with electric start) by Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) in Peterborough, Ontario. OMC is better known for their Jonson and Evinrude outboard motors. Gale was sold through Simpson-Sears and Firestone stores. Trailer is a 1959 TEE-NEE manufactured by the Tee-Nee Trailer Company in Youngstown, Ohio.
The boat was manufactured by the Redfish Boat Company of Texas. The Capri model included the fibreglass top and the fake air intakes on the front deck. Early fibreglass boats often resembled certain automobiles. Many people think this has some 1957 Chevrolet styling with the fins and air intakes. Also the top of the fin looks like 1955 Chevrolet tail lights.
The motor is a 1961 Gale (25 hp with electric start) built by Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC) in Peterborough, Ontario. OMC is better known for their Jonson and Evinrude outboard motors. The latter 2 were sold through authorized dealers while the Gale was sold through Simpson-Sears and Firestone stores. Gale motors are very rare and fortunately most parts are interchangeable with Johnson and Evinrude. The trailer is a 1959 TEE-NEE manufactured by the Tee-Nee Trailer Company in Youngstown, Ohio. These trailers were also quite stylish in their day with their large tear-drop fenders and distinctive bright yellow paint.
