Ford would not introduce the Ranchero model until 1957 but this custom was professionally assembled with an eye to imagining if Ford had offered it the year before. The 312 V8 was rebuilt and it uses a 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive to a 4.11 rear axle. It is also equipped with power steering, power brakes, front bumper guards, front and rear stone guards, stainless rocker moldings, fog lights, AM radio and air conditioning.
An interesting custom Ford from the “What If…” Department, this 1956 has resided in high profile collections both in the US and Canada and is now offered publicly for sale. In reality, Ford would not introduce the Ranchero model until 1957 but this custom was professionally assembled with an eye to imagining if Ford had offered it the year before. Beginning with a Customline Ranch wagon, the roof was removed and a 55 Crown Victoria roof was put in place over the front portion of the interior. The box section was crafted by hand and the entire project came together looking more like an actual Ford prototype or concept vehicle than anyone could have hoped.
The Y-block V8 displaces 312 cubic inches and was rebuilt to a high standard. It uses a 3 speed manual transmission with overdrive to a 4.11 rear axle. An electrical upgrade was performed by converting to an alternator system. It is also equipped with power steering, power brakes, front bumper guards, front and rear stone guards, stainless rocker moldings, fog lights, AM radio and air conditioning. Never intended to become mere garage art, this unique custom was built to drive and as such has seen a great deal of loving use and would be a great choice for anyone wanting a show vehicle they can use.
