A true Canadian icon, this 1951 Mercury Monarch Convertible is considered by experts to be the finest restored example in existence, from just four known examples. Painstakingly restored to exacting standards, this Monarch was first shown at the Dearborn Nationals, North America’s leading Ford show, where it received a perfect score of 1000 points. Shortly thereafter, it was invited to the 2005 Meadowbrook Concours d’Elegance, where it received The Most Significant Ford Product trophy, sponsored by the Ford Motor Company. Considering this is one of the most prestigious show events in North America, this is a rare honour indeed, and a true testament to its quality. It is finished in its correct, Canada-only and Monarch-only Fez Red exterior colour, which highlights an outstanding frame off restoration, which took over 4 years to complete. In addition, the Monarch was the recipient of over 100 new old stock parts in its refurbishment, which were accumulated over many years.
With its correctly restored and highly detailed “Flathead” Ford V8 engine, the Monarch runs and drives exceptionally, equipped with an original three-speed overdrive transmission. It is very well equipped with power windows, a power seat and convertible top, a leather interior, a radio, fender skirts, and Deluxe Monarch trim. Driven just over 80 miles in total since its restoration, this Canadian Monarch is ready to be driven, enjoyed, and shown. It will surely continue its winning ways on or off the road, is truly the finest example of this important and historic piece of Canadiana.
