The proceeds of the following lot goes to Sick Kids Hospital in memory of Harvey Segal. There will be no buyer or seller premium on this lot. On the final sell price CCP and Dan Spendick have generously offered to match 100% of the sell price to the Sick Kids Hospital. So please bid with your hearts and wallets. In 1916, Danish engineer Jørgen Skafte Rasmussen founded a factory in Zschopau, Saxony, Germany, to produce steam fittings. That year he attempted to produce a steam-driven car, called the DKW. Although unsuccessful, he made a two-stroke toy engine in 1919, called Des Knaben Wunsch – “the boy’s desire”. He put a slightly modified version of this engine into a motorcycle and called it Das Kleine Wunder – “the little marvel”. This was the beginning of the DKW brand: by the 1930s, DKW was the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer.
This early 1960’s DKW Violetta Sport (Zweirad Union) has been restored to its original colors of cream and burgundy. The 48cc engine has its original Motor Tag and the bike comes complete with a passenger safety strap and front fender chrome accents! An incredible piece of European History.
This classic motorcycle is to be sold at NO RESERVE price to the final bidder. 100% of proceeds will go to charity. This bike is being donated by Segal Motorcar Company. As an added bonus to the charity Collector Car Productions has agreed to match the entire sales proceeds of Segal Motorcars donation and forward to the charity.
There will be no buyer’s premium attached to the sale price.
