Seeing a “Mod Top” was a pretty rare sight in the 70’s. Finding one today is almost impossible! This is a piece of history and for sure a Blue Chip Investment! Now this is your opportunity…When was the last time you saw a “Mod Top”?
History: In 1969 Chrysler/Plymouth saw potential pro?ts in the pockets of the young, middle-class, psychedelic society in the “Peace & Love Revolution” era; while most motor heads were too busy watching Ronnie Sox revolutionize Super Stock to feed their minds. So they came up with the wildest and craziest idea: a FLOWER POWERED car, named “Mod Top”! The “Mod Top’s” options included a ?oral pattern vinyl roof, a deluxe interior covered with matching ?oral pattern seat inserts and door panels, as well as a set of “Mod Top” decals on the rear quarter windows. It could be ordered as either a Top package, an Interior package, or both, like this one, on Barracuda and Satellite hardtops. Unfortunately the automotive press jeered at the crazy daisies and, as they say in show business, the crowds stayed away in droves! So the market for the option never really materialized, and the “wild” $98 package was gone pretty quickly!
