This unique automobile was purchased new in 1955 by California’s women’s clothes designer Pat Premo in Beverly Hills, California. Amazingly enough, the “original” California Title, or “Pink Slip” as some call it, has remained with the car since new and is safely stored in a plastic sleeve in a binder that goes with the car. Pat Premo’s dress designs are world reknown. She has been featured in Time Magazine, and is most popular for her design of simple dresses for sports and leisure. Pat kept the car for 52 years (1955-2007) when it was purchased by a resident of Rhode Island. One of Pat Premo’s designer dresses is included in the sale of this car.

This fabulous California car is very well optioned including both tops, a rare continental kit, power steering, power brakes, power seat, power windows, automatic transmission, wide whitewall tires, wire basket wheel covers, backup lamps, engine dress-up kit and windshield washers. In a written appraisal, included with the car, the car was described as a “nearly original and near museum quality show car”. And to top it all off, the car was driven sparingly with just 34,804 actual miles.
The factory original 292 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt in 1989 with few miles added. Exhaust, shocks and tires have been newly replaced as well as the brakes but the brake pedal travels halfway to the floor when applied possibly indicating a brake adjustment needed. All new front-end work was also performed in 2006. Low mileage and good winter storage conditions have resulted in near perfect original body and under car metal. Chrome is in virtually perfect condition with no signs of pitting. Glass is in good to excellent condition with a few fine scratches in back glass on hard top. Paint work is of high-quality and has been professionally applied resulting in a great appearance with very few minor imperfections. There are some small paint chips on the back edge of the hood. Upholstery is in very nice condition as are the door panels and headliner. Rubber seals on doors and trunk were completely replaced in 1982 and now appear in good condition. A rare factory original car with a storied history.
