This is not your everyday backyard hot rod, this is an all-steel bodied commercially-built Dearborn Deuce Hot Rod. First a little company background on the Dearborn Deuce . . . this was a joint venture between Hot Rods & Horsepower of Branford Connecticut and ASC of Southgate Michigan. H&H provides the frames and suspensions and ASC designed and built the heavily modified all-steel body shells using CATIA software, which accounts for the way-above-average body fits and panel alignments. The body is built on an ultra-precise set of jigs and locators to meet current OEM tolerance levels. It has a sheet of 1/8” steel for the floor paneling, stamped steel A & B pillars, and reinforcements everywhere so the body-panel, door and hood fits are about as tight as your average Toyota’s. To suit today’s customers, the doors are 3.5” longer than stock for easier entry & exit, and the cockpit is lengthened about 2.5”, but the overall dimensions are spot on.
There is not much in the way of defects to report on this car because it is about as close as it gets to perfection . . . top, bottom, back, front and inside. It has garnered several top awards including Outstanding Street Rod, Outstanding Undercarriage and Best in Class. The car is powered by a 350 Chev small block coupled to a 700R4 Stage 2 transmission, full custom leather interior, p/steering, p/disc brakes, p/windows, engine-turned dash panel with gauges by Classic Instruments, banjo steering wheel, Stayfast cloth top and knock-off style wheels by Billet Specialties are just some of the features found on this spectacular street rod.
