There are two things, among others, that knowledgeable classic car buyers typically look for . . . a solid rust-free example and documentation. The Auburn offered here has both. This wonderful example came from California and the next owner will receive the black California plates that came with the car when the current owner, a long time ACD member, purchased it. As far as documentation goes, this car has been bestowed the most important document there is for this marque, it is ACD Certified which confirms the car’s authenticity. Despite being an older restoration, the car is in outstanding condition and shows very well. The dual side mounted spares are fitted with Auburn-scripted side mirrors and the factory radio, heater and clock are all in working condition. It is further equipped with original type Goodyear tires as well as a highly desirable two-speed rear axle. The Startex system works as intended bringing the eight cylinder Lycoming engine to life, which seems to runs very smoothly and the transmission shifts well with no issues. The interior is in good to excellent condition with beautiful seat upholstery both up front and in the rumble seat area. The convertible top has been recently replaced with black-on-tan Stayfast material and maroon piping. During that time, a matching convertible top boot was fitted to the car also. The paint, although exhibiting some minor flaws, has an outstanding overall appearance and the chrome is in good-to-excellent condition with some components showing slight aging. The glass is in excellent condition with the exception of the driver’s door glass which is cracked. In a testament to the car’s drivability, it was driven in the last Can-Am Tour. To summarize this fabulous automobile, it is the last year of the marque and it is a registered Full Classic with the Classic Car Club of America and even though it is not in concours show condition, it has an outstanding presence and the mechanical condition is exceptional making this a great acquisition for the next owner.
