Fifties pickups have grown in popularity in recent years and one of the rarest and most desirable is the ’56 Ford with the optional wrap-around rear window. This Custom Cab edition was recently imported from California and was built to not only look good, but to be a reliable highway cruiser. It is powered by a 350 Chev V8 with automatic overdrive transmission, p/steering, power disc brakes, and a clever power window kit that utilizes the original window cranks, but you only need to push down on the window winder to engage the power window operation. Not only are the windows electrically operated, but the side windows have been converted to one piece glass with the elimination of the vent windows. The custom interior features not only leather seat upholstery, but also leather door panels and leather headliner. The gas tank was moved from the original location inside the cab, to the rear of the truck with a custom gas fill located in the cargo area, which has also been treated to new oak boards with polished stainless steel bed strips. This rust-free southern example has been lowered and rides on custom wheels and tires. Dual exhaust has been fitted to the truck with a not-too-overboard throaty sound and exiting under the rear bumper through custom exhaust tips. The chrome is excellent as is the lustrous paint finish which has been sanded and polished to a glass-like finish. This outstanding pickup has been driven hundreds of trouble-free miles this year and as a result, is a proven winner!
