The International Scouts were produced in Fort Wayne Indiana as two-door trucks with removeable hard top, and were designed to go off-road as a competitor to the Jeep. This outstanding example has travelled only 53,500 km’s (33,000 miles) since new and still retains its original paint! Not only is the paint original, but it is in outstanding condition with very few flaws. It comes equipped with p/steering, p/front disc brakes, trac-loc rear axle, 2-speed transfer case, Michelin tires, cruise control, tilt wheel, folding rear seat, deluxe exterior package, deluxe interior package, air conditioning, roof-mounted luggage rack, am/fm radio, and a fire extinguisher mounted to the driver’s seat with an original tag dated 1978! Power is supplied from a 345 cubic inch V8 coupled to an automatic transmission and the transmission was rebuilt just 150 miles ago.
As previously mentioned, the original paint is in amazing condition but close inspection revealed some very minor paint chips at the front of the vehicle. The chrome is original and in very nice condition as is the interior. The driver’s seat has been repaired at the lower side area and some of the seat upholstery piping shows some cracks. The driver’s window does not go up & down properly however the truck will be sold with a new window regulator to be installed by the buyer. The factory states that in order to lift the removeable hard top from the vehicle, the door weatherstrips and the tailgate seal must be cut . . . all of these weatherstrips are still intact which means that the top has never been off the truck. The spare tire appears to have never been on the ground. Documents include a Line Setting Ticket (Build Sheet), owner’s manual, and various service manuals. This truck was treated to Superior Rustproofing and was obviously stored indoors which accounts for the outstanding condition of the body and undercarriage. This is undoubtedly one of the nicest, most original Scouts you will find anywhere.
