There are 3 things that collectors often look for, among others, when considering to invest in a classic car . . . rare low production, convertible and 4-speed transmission . . . and this car has all three. One of only 1,600 produced approximately, this example was purchased brand new at Evans Mercury in Toronto by the original owner, who kept it for 40 years! Not only did he keep the car for 4 decades, he retained the original documents including the original Bill of Sale (not a photocopy) which will be included in the sale of this car. Upon approaching the car, one can’t help but notice the glossy paint which has a smooth overall surface finish, but closer inspection reveals some minor flaws such as a light 18” scratch in the left front fender (pictured) as well as a few other minor imperfections that don’t detract from the overall cosmetic appearance of the car. The chrome is in fair-to-good condition with obvious pitting occurring in the diecast parts (pictured) and the chrome bumpers are showing some age. The interior is good overall but not perfect with both door panels displaying some minor cuts, the drivers arm rest is cracked and the passenger seat has a small tear (all 3 above pictured). The dash pad is nice as is the seat upholstery with the exception of the above noted flaw in the passenger seat. The glass is in decent shape overall but the windshield has a notable stone chip (pictured). The body is actually pretty decent and inspection revealed that the bottom of the doors are solid with no evidence of repairs and the chassis appears solid as well. It is our understanding that the body was refinished recently and a new convertible top was also installed. The car started right up during our inspection and ran smoothly with the dual exhaust emitting a throaty but not offensive sound. The car is powered by a 302 cubic inch V8 coupled to the aforementioned 4-speed manual transmission, and it is equipped with power steering, power brakes, power top, gauge package with working tach, bucket seats and console. The car has also been fitted with Ridler Torque-Thrust style wheels. And the good news is that this good-looking 4-speed convertible will be sold to the highest bidder at No Reserve!!
