This 1970 Mach 1 has been through extensive restoration and brought up to a top performing Pro Touring car. Professionally modified engine, transmission, differential and chassis all serve to create a fantastic driving machine.

This 1970 Boss 302 has been through extensive restoration bringing it up to a top performing Pro Touring car. Let’s start with the heart of this beautiful beast, the stock 302 has been reworked by Ken Maisano. Starting with the block, custom JE Pistons with 10.8/1 compression ratio were used with a billet crank, Probe H beam connecting rods all held together utilizing APR engine bolts. With blocks aggressive combination brings it from a stock 302 up to a 360ci engine(5.9L), from there concentration was then put to the upper end of the engine. Doze Aluminum cylinder heads conceal crane rockers, Smith Brother pushrods and Isky lifters. The camshaft is a custom grind Maisano spec giving the engine a very usable power band. Fed by 2 Holley Carburetors through the Shelby intake the newly spec’d 5.9 litre mill was able to produce a whopping 523 WHP at just under 7000rpm. Torque comes in 449 ft lbs at just 5500rpm. A beautiful high revving pushrod with tons of character. Power delivery is then taken over by the Kiesler supplied Tremec TKO 5 speed transmission and a SPEC clutch, the clutch pedal pressure is light and smooth making this car easy to drive, but with all the hold one requires with such a big engine. The power is then transmitted from the driveshaft into a Total Control 9″ Traction Lock rear end with Strange 4.30 gears. All the parts used in the driveline are of the highest strength and efficiency. Controlling the power now becomes the responsibility of the chassis. Although the Mach 1 would have come well prepared to handle its original 302 engine, the new engine demands more. To work in harmony the suspension and chassis were completely reworked. Starting with the basic suspension, Varishock fully adjustable coilovers were installed to give the car an aggressive ride height and give a nice balance of firmness and comfort. Custom built shock supports were built to position the suspension in a more efficient manner. Chassisworks frame support and stiffness components were then used throughout the chassis, an engine cross brace, lower frame connectors and rear axle support. The steering system is power assisted with a new sharper rack with a quicker steering ratio as well. On to the stopping power performance brakes from Willwood with monoblock calipers and cross drilled rotors were placed at all 4 corners. Power is assisted electronically again to provide a very easy and pleasurable experience. With all this great power and performance, no Pro Touring car would be complete without the right look. Starting with the paintwork, MASCAR of Charlotte North Carolina invested roughly 2000 hours into the bodywork. Floors, finishing and all gaps were invested in. The car is finished in classic Grabber Green with Boss decalling and blackout package. The custom shaker hood is functional as it vibrates along with the lumpy cam from the engine. A front lower chin spoiler and rear wing also get the blackout treatment. the look is fantastic and period correct. On to the rolling stock, custom made 17″ magnum wheels were built for modern tires and offsets stancing this beast just right. Interior remains simple with new carpets throughout, new roof liner, beautiful vinyl seats revised gauges and lap belts. The interior is well put together with no creaks and rattles.”
