Born in 1939, this pre-war McLaughlin-Buick Series 40 Touring Sedan rolled off the GM factory floor in Oshawa. Designed by Robert McLaughlin, this factory also manufactured, amongst others, a pair of special custom built 1939 vehicles for King George and Queen Elizabeth for their Royal tour of Canada in 1939. These cars are now displayed at the British Columbia Museum of Transport. The Series 40 adopted its famous overhead valve inline straight eight engine. At 248ci it generates 141 hp. The gas carburetor is a 2-barrel. The vehicle is a front engine mounted rear wheel drive design. The transmission is column mounted 3-speed manual. This 4 door 5-passenger touring sedan has a 120” wheelbase and has a 66 7/8” height at the rooftop. It is 72 ¼” wide and 202” in length from bumper to bumper. It weighs in at 3482 lbs. The 6.5 x 16” whitewall tires are relatively new and very have low mileage.
The large trunk also carries a spare tire.
