1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Fuel Injected

A complete Nut & Bolt Rotisserie restoration was performed on this California Bel Air Fuel Injected Convertible right down to the detailed undercarriage and engine compartment. The paint has been professionally polished resulting in a smooth glass-like finish and the same attention was paid to the brightwork with all exterior chrome in show quality condition and stainless steel moldings having been polished. The interior is for the most part, virtually flawless with the exception of the steering wheel which exhibits a few paint chips most likely caused by a driver’s ring. There is also a small paint scratch in the passenger side upper garnish molding (pictured). The glass is also in excellent condition for the most part, with the exception of the original vent window glass, driver’s side, which is starting to show signs of delamination at the back edge of the glass (pictured), passenger side vent glass is excellent. Upon decoding the trim tag, it became evident that the car rolled off the assembly line just like it is presented here in Matador Red with Red & Silver interior. It is powered by a 283 cubic inch solid lifter V8 producing 283 horse power. The “EK” engine stamp designation confirms that this Bel Air sports the optional high compression high-horse power-plant and was the first time in history that a General Motors vehicle achieved 1-hp-per-cubic-inch in a production vehicle. Further options include fender skirts, continental kit, twin rear deck antennas, gold Bowtie license plate frame, wide whitewall tires and spinner hubcaps.

It is generally accepted that fuel injected Chevrolets began in mid March 1957 (with the possible exception of the Black Widows and race cars), which would place this VIN within the range when factory fuel injected cars were built.

Larger fuel lines on outside of frame are consistent with fuel injection cars. Three speed manual transmission was the only transmission choice for a fuel injected Bel Air with the solid lifter cam.
