This 1938 Chrysler Imperial Eight Convertible Sedan is a rare example as only 113 units were ever produced. This car sold new at a cost of $1,595 and the top boot was standard, but the skirts and white walls were extra. All convertible models used free standing wind-wings instead of the vent windows used on closed models. The car was restored in the 1980's and completed by 1990 including the installation of a new wiring harness. In 1992 it completed the Canadian Coast Tour covering over 12,000 miles pulling a small trailer powered by the original 300 cubic inch flathead 8 cylinder motor and 3 speed manual Overdrive transmission. Since being restored it has covered over 60,000 miles. This car originated in B.C. and has a very solid rust-free chassis and sheet metal. Overall this vehicle has a very good appearance but it should be noted that upon closer inspection, there are numerous paint chips and cracks evident in the paint, the carpet is showing wear, tires are aged, the passenger front door glass is cracked and the steering wheel has wear and hairline cracks. It is equipped with a factory installed clock and radio, power booster brakes and fog lamps. This Imperial qualifies as a full CCCA Classic making it eligible for any classic car tour.
