The Mercedes 560SL is a car that inspires car collectors on many levels. Luxurious, stylish, powerful and limited production have combined to leave each fortunate owner feeling part of a very exclusive club. The example offered here comes from an estate and is one of the very finest in existence and well it should be. This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL has travelled just 4,877 total kilometers from new!
Sold new in May of 1987, it was gently used for just over a year. The licence renewal for 1989 was purchased but the sticker was never applied to the plate. Placed into climate controlled storage, it can truly be described as like new. The “Blauschwarz Metallic” finish looks as good as the day it was applied at the assembly plant. The extensive factory undercoating remains in place and has certainly done its job preserving the metal parts of the chassis. Original paint markings and labels abound. The car starts and runs just as a virtually new Mercedes V8 would be expected to. It drives as when it was first delivered, stopping and steering with precision.
It retains both the hard and soft tops as well as the pair of top removal wrenches.. Manuals and other papers related to the delivery of this 560SL are included and even a community newspaper from 1989 which was found in the trunk, remains with the car. This will be an exciting purchase for one winning bidder as it will be presented at NO RESERVE! . . . ONE of the WORLD’S BEST !!!
