Produced for just the 2006 and 2007 model years, Chevrolet’s Cobalt SS Supercharged Coupe produced outstanding performance, including acceleration from rest to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds, the quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds at 100 mph, and a 145-mph top speed according to a Car & Driver road test. All that performance begins with a dual-overhead cam, 16-valve four-cylinder Ecotec engine displacing just 2.0 litres, fortified by an intercooled Eaton supercharger to develop 205 bhp and 200 pounds-feet of torque! Handling was excellent as well, with C & D achieving 0.88 G of lateral acceleration on the skidpad. To handle the power, the Cobalt SS Supercharged was equipped with 18-inch forged-alloy wheels with speed-rated performance tires, special strut valving, stiffer springs, enlarged anti-roll bars, a ride height lowered by one-quarter inch, and bigger brakes with high-performance pads. The $1,500 optional Performance Package added highly supportive Recaro front seats and a Quaife limited-slip differential. Displaying excellent handling and steering optimized for excellent road feel, the Cobalt SS is, simply put, a sheer joy to drive.

Finished in Black on Black leather upholstery, this example is offered for sale with current safety certification and an emissions test. Only an approximate 106,000 kilometers have been travelled, and the original GM powertrain warranty remains in effect well into 2014. It is very well equipped and complete with all options including the seats and limited-slip differential, except for OnStar and the normally-seen (and outlandish) rear spoiler being a delete option, for a much cleaner and more stealthy look on the street. The AM/FM/CD stereo also boasts MP3/Auxiliary input and satellite radio capability, complete with a factory Pioneer subwoofer and speakers. The A-pillar mounts a factory AutoMeter boost gauge, which reads in metric KPa units. Delivering excellent handling and road manners with excellent and usable performance, this Supercharged Cobalt SS from 2007 is an excellent modern performance car and a great buy at auction, complete with safety, e-test, and the balance of the factory powertrain warranty.
