Experts say that when considering a classic car purchase, you should absolutely choose the best quality example that you can afford in the desired make and model. The Thunderbird offered here, was rotisserie-restored to concours-level quality standards by one of the country’s leading Thunderbird experts and authority. To maintain proper authenticity specifications, NOS parts were used in the restoration of this stunning automobile. The car was previously owned by Douglas Bassett, former CTV Chairman of the Board and an Officer of the Order of Canada. Mr. Bassett was also inducted into the Canadian Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame. He obviously recognized the quality of this car as it was invited to be shown at the Cobble Beach Concours d’Elegance where only the best-of-the-best cars in the world are allowed on the show field.
With only 37,250 actual miles, this solid rust-free Bird still retains its original body panels that were stripped down to bare metal and professionally refinished in the original colour of Flame Red as per the paint code V on the data tag. Complimenting the red exterior is a flawless white interior and the trim code XK confirms that the car rolled off the assembly line with this combination. The restoration was meticulous not only from a cosmetic standpoint, but a large amount of time and money was invested in the mechanical aspects of the car. This includes the complete and professional rebuild of the 312 cubic inch V8 engine as well as the automatic transmission. In addition, the following New Old Stock parts were implemented during restoration . . . carburetor, chrome breather, voltage regulator, generator, wiper motor, wiring harness, steering & suspension bushings, exhaust and much more. One can well appreciate, when driving the car, the efforts that were put forth to make this T-Bird as mechanically perfect as possible, with the result being a wonderfully smooth tight ride, just like it was in 1957.
As an added bonus, this Thunderbird is also loaded with factory options and accessories including power steering, power brakes, power windows, power seat, windshield washers, Town & Country radio, tinted glass, backup lamps, wide whitewall tires, Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels, engine dress-up kit, porthole hardtop and black stayfast soft-top. Without a doubt, this ’57 Bird is one of the finest you will find!!
