1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe Convertible

To be auctioned on Saturday, June 2, 2018

  • Engine Displacement: 217
  • Transmission: Manual
  • Exterior Color: Red

The Special Deluxe was the top of the line model in 1950 and was the most striking Plymouth during this era. This is the same year that different springs were used to lower the car slightly giving the appearance of a more stylish look compared to previous years. It sold for $1,982 when new and Lee Petty drove a ’50 Plymouth and placed 2nd in the NASCAR Championship two years in a row. This particular car, imported from Arizona by the current owner in 2016, is powered by the L-Head 217 cubic inch in-line 6 engine (rebuilt) producing 97 horsepower coupled to a 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The car was treated to a nut & bolt body-off restoration to authentic standards including Bedford Cord upholstery and tan canvas convertible top. This wonderful example comes with dual spot lights, wide whitewall tires on wire wheels, dash-mounted clock, radio, cigarette lighter, heater, door armrests and dual exhaust. One of the nicest examples you will see!
